Koh Lanta, Thailand--Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers move a heavy structural beam to the site of a new house in the village of Hua Laem on Koh Lanta island, Thailand. They group, made up primarily of men between the ages of 65 and 80, had been traveling through Southern Thailand for a few days looking for somewhere to help but had been turned down everywhere while communities waited for government intervention. David Karam, of Brewster, MA, ran into them in Koh Lanta's biggest town, Sa La Dan and brought them over to Hua Laem where they helped with clean-up and construction of new homes. 01/27/05 © Julia Cumes / The Image Works
